London Time

A step in time I took one day
On specters mist who led the way
Down cobblestones and garden paths
Armless statues guarding baths
Armored beasts reflect the sun
Gallant knights are all for one
Hedge puzzles line the gardens fair
Hide and Seek for those that dare
Ladies clad in whale bone stays
Surreys pulled by chestnut bays
Sticky buns and honeyed mead
Cards and races slate the greed
Then on he led to shanty town
Down rows of tenements falling down
Sewage stench accosts the street
Where doxies in the alleys meet
Walking peddlers hawk their wares
And homeless children, no one cares
Disease spreads rampant through the town
Renaissance Art, the churches frown
Then through the mist he leads again
Back to my time; my heart to pen.

Lena's Story and Poetry Corner: Cloak and Dagger

Lena's Story and Poetry Corner: Cloak and Dagger: Creeping in, it caught me unaware In the dead of night, where dreams slither With stealth it creeps like smoky vapor My spirit cries out...

Cloak and Dagger

Creeping in, it caught me unaware
In the dead of night, where dreams slither
With stealth it creeps like smoky vapor
My spirit cries out in apprehension.

It wore a cloak and dagger,
Which dripped words undeclared
Empty parchment waiting
To be soaked with poignant imagery.

The cloak, but a shroud to hide behind
The dagger, a trusty friend
An extension of unconscious contemplation
Oozing thoughts, torn from heart to pen.

I am but a victim of resourceful temperament
Lost souls with untold stories clamoring for release
Mysteries yet unraveled, murders to be solved
Lingering shadows, bound by cloak and dagger.

Two Halloween Poems

The Lady Awaits

The lady awaits her victims who
Dare land upon her web so true
At dusk the web is silver bright
To guild those victims in the night
Perchance you’ll drop in, it looks so inviting
Glisten dew looks so enticing
But touch her silk and she will beat your best
You'll be her snack at your final rest.

Halloween

Halloween, a time to seek
All the goblins who dare to sneak
All the ghost's who choose to fly
All the werewolf's on the sly
To all the witches and their brews
Happy Halloween, to you and you and you

Childhood Fears

It lived in the toy box
It lived under the bed
It lived in the closet
And under the shed

It lived in the basement
All musty and dark
It lived in the hallway
It lived in the park
It lived under the bushes
That grew by the fence
It lived in the woods
Where the trees were so dense
It lived in the attic
Where old trunks were kept
It was stealth and quite sneaky
It attacked when I slept
Dad would come to my rescue
When I was afraid
He would check out the closets
He would close all the shades
He would leave on a night light
Outside of my room
He swept under the bed
With mom’s old battered broom
He would hug me and tell me
I was big and so brave
Then he’d yell at the boogie
And make it behave
So tonight I was called
To my little ones room
I smile as I walk in
To defeat boogies that loom
